MY GREAT HAIR FETISH .

Hi there , my name is Abena you can also call me Abby. Close to a decade ago i used to visit the hair stores and salons like three times a week, sometimes even five, i did this because i always wanted a new look , a new style that would suit my mood or my outfit at a given time. Family and friends would always say i had a lot of cash to spend and i sure did, but fact was that i was spending and wasting a lot of cash and time in salons, at that time i had a serious hair fetish, i loved hair so much i could spend my life on hair, i still love hair very much to this day but over time i learnt to recycle and reuse hair. Every year it is estimated that women of color all over the world spend over 1.8 billion dollars on hair alone , which makes the hair industry one of the richest, the con though is that most times hair is being dumped after use and new hair is bought , this is becoming a detriment to our environment and economies as a whole. think about how we could channel those monies to help those in need of actual hair, like women and girls going through chemotherapy

THE MORE YOU READ THE MORE INSIGHTFUL YOU GET

At a point in time i quit my job to go back to school, and being a student was not a good time to be living the lavish life, i had spent so much on hair and thrown all that hair and money away ,i had nothing left but i was still very itchy to have different looks all the time. it was in this time of desperation that i found some old hair i had mistakenly stashed in a suitcase, i tell you you would even know my joy even if you tried. i then washed and conditioned this old hair and made my very first wig out of it.

I want to let every woman/girl know that , you are never alone when it comes to the great hair fetish, we have all been there and have learnt great lessons along the way. it is never shameful to reuse and recycle your old hair, it is rather resourceful and positively impacts our environment, our pockets and society.

p.s: i discovered this wonderful hair product called 'EVOLVE', it is great for rejuvenating used hair extensions.

HOW TO RECYCLE YOUR OLD HAIR EXTENSIONS

Imagine you just bought an expensive and amzing hair peice extension and put it on as a weave, you just cant stop thinking about all the places you want to go and show it off, then the days quickly pass by, before you know it the wind and dust have caused the hair to become brittle and dry, before long frizz ends starts to show up . its only two weeks but now you are feeling like you are carrying a log on your head, its just awful and you wanna take it off and throw it away! HOLD ON, i will show you how to recycle your old hair back to life.

step 1 : Gently remove extensions from your head or seek help from a stylist.

step 2: Do not be rough with the hair, remember the amount of money spent on it, use a wide tooth comb or a brush and gently start to comb from bottom to the top, this will easily detangle hair.

step 3: put all pieces together in a bundle and tie with a rubber band.( this makes it easier to handle)

step 4: take a bowl of water and pour three generous drops of shampoo ( Evolve prefreably) and mix solution to form soapy water, dip hair in and out of water about three times, do not rub or twist hair as it will cause friction. gently use your fingers to pass through the hair, do this about two or three times until hair is clean.(remember to change water after each wash)

step 5: dry hair with towel gently, then use conditioner (Evolve preferably) and apply generous amount into the hair using your fingers to comb through. if the hair is very dry and frizzy you can leave conditioner in overnight and place in a zip lock plastic bag for best effect, if hair is very thin then leave in for a few minutes then rinse out.

step 6 : wash out conditioner and leave hair to air dry (never use electric heat such as hair dryer ,it will not be effective), now you can add your favorite leave in or hair lotion from Evolve . the hair should now be as fresh as you bought it.
